Meet Mariela Pokka: The Heart of Our Kitchen

From a very young age, Mariela Pokka discovered her love for cooking and creativity. As a little girl, she spent hours in the kitchen experimenting with flavors and ingredients, turning every meal into a small artistic adventure. That same creative energy later led her to become a designer and founder of the brand Mariela Pokka, where art, fashion, and beauty come together in her own unique style. Although Mariela never studied to be a chef, cooking has always been one of her greatest passions. She loves creating delicious dishes that bring joy to her family — especially to her two sons, whose smiles around the dinner table are, for her, the most beautiful reward. Over 25 years ago, Mariela moved to Finnish Lapland, where she fell in love with the region’s breathtaking nature and pure ingredients. Together with her husband, she founded a reindeer meat company, inspired by one of the most ecological and healthy meats in the world. In Lapland, only the surplus reindeer population is used for consumption, carefully regulated by the government to ensure ecological balance and animal welfare. Mariela often says: “Reindeer meat has such a delicate and unique flavor that it can be combined with all kinds of spices — from Nordic herbs to exotic Eastern blends — allowing me to express my creativity without limits.” Her recipes reflect who she is — creative, passionate, and deeply connected to nature. Through her dishes, Mariela shares not only wonderful flavors but also a piece of her story: a life filled with art, love, and the pure essence of Finnish Lapland.

Our reindeer roam freely across the vast, untouched forests of Finnish Lapland, feeding on what nature provides: more than 300 species of wild plants, nutrient-rich lichens, and forest mushrooms. This natural diet gives the meat its uniquely refined flavor — a perfect harmony between the mild tenderness of beef and the rich depth of wild game, but never overly gamey.

This ethical and sustainable way of life not only protects the environment but also creates the extraordinary tenderness and complexity that define every cut of Pokka Reindeer Meat.

In fact, our reindeer tenderloin was proudly used by the Finnish National Culinary Team, helping secure their Gold Medal victory at the 26th IKA/Culinary Olympics 2024 in Stuttgart — the world’s most prestigious culinary competition.
